As you will be aware, on Tuesday 18 April the Prime Minister announced her intention to hold a general election. Parliament approved the motion and the election will take place on 08 June 2017.

During the pre-election period the Government retains responsibility to govern and essential business continues. The Civil Service remains politically impartial which means there are restrictions about giving views or advice on new policies and announcements.

What this means for you:

  • Please continue to stay in touch with the Stakeholder Engagement Team. The mailbox remains open, although the team will not be able to respond to questions which relate to future government policy
  • There will be no further Business Bulletins during the election period

More information about how the pre-election period affects the Civil Service can be found on gov.uk.
