The winners of the Food Storage & Distribution Federation’s 2018 Health and Safety Awards have been announced, acknowledging the excellent contributions made by individuals and companies in this field.
The winner of the Best Individual Contribution to Health and Safety Award, which recognises individuals whose contributions have made an exceptional difference to health and safety in their workplace. This was won by Mr Philip Towl from XPO Logistics for his 5 second poster concept pause for thought, potentially preventing unsafe practice or accidents occurring in the work place.
The Outstanding Contribution to Health and Safety by a Company Award acknowledges an initiative, project or a new product which enhances the food storage and distribution industry’s health and safety record. The winner of the Full Member category was Cold Move for its focus on safe systems of work and a rigorous risk assessment programme, along with a safety culture led from the top, and a management team who discuss safety every day. Cold Move have been RIDDOR free at their Oswestry site for over five years and this should be recognised within the industry. The award was collected by Simon Williams, General Manager.
The winner of the Associate Member category was RTITB for its new product MyRTITB Training Friend PRO App, vital for ensuring safe materials handling equipment operations found in the Food Storage & Distribution industry. The award was collected by Jane Hughes, Solutions & Service manager.
The awards were presented by Nigel Lea of Citation, sponsors of the Health & Safety Awards and Simon Williams, Chairman of the FSDF Technical & Safety Committee at the FSDF Annual Lunch which was held at Fishmongers’ Hall, London, 24th May.
